The UCW would like to remind the congregation that we have a recycling account at Nova Recycling. It would be appreciated if you could bring your recycling to Nova Recycling for credit to the UCW.

If you would like to take part in Sunday services by reading the Scripture, please phone the church office and submit your name.

First United Church recently established a “Townsite Cemetery Committee” to oversee the upkeep of the United Church section of this cemetery. The committee is asking members of the congregation who have loved ones buried in this cemetery to consider making a donation (lump sum, annual, monthly, weekly, etc.) to the cemetery fund to help offset the costs incurred with this upkeep.

If anyone know of relatives of those buried at Townsite who currently live away (out or city, province, or country) it would be appreciated if you could contact them to see if they might like to contribute to this fund.

All contributions can be made by contacting the church office by telephone at (709) 634-5301 or by email at ucadmin@nl.rogers.com. If you wish, we can arrange for a monthly or weekly payment to be deducted automatically from your bank account through P.A.R. (pre-authorized remittance) or credit card payment is also acceptable. All contributions are very much appreciated.

Please be advised that effective June 12, 2009, the old CO OP parking lot off Park Street will be closed to public parking due to the start of construction of City Hall. Business staff and customers in the area should be advised to make other parking arrangements. The City of Corner Brook regrets any inconvenience this may cause.

Congratulations to Myrtle Hobbs, Roma Hampton and Rosalyn Cole who were made UCW Life members.

Bible Study

by

Janet Mews

We sit within our circle

A meeting of the Spirit

To join and ponder God’s word

We’re proud to read and hear it.

We seek for understanding

We learn, discuss and share

Our lives and minds are opened

With the words that are printed here.

Our hearts are in communion

Connected through His Grace

Because there are two or more of us

Gathered in this place.

We lift our hopes for others

For those less fortunate

In this Holy Advent season

We pray, and give, and wait.

For the day that shines forever

Like the star bright as the morn

To celebrate together

That “God-with-us” was born.

Greetings to the UC congregation from Haiti,

Thank you very much to the church choir who travelled to Springdale to help with the fundraiser so the mission could once again have a vehicle.   Thank you, too, to everyone who donated towards the purchase.   Every time I drive the truck I spend time thanking God.  Every time I walk out the door and see it, I thank God.  Sometimes I actually walk out to look to be sure it is still there - a reality, not a dream.  What a difference it has made for me, and the functioning of the mission, already.

                    Thank you God.

God bless each and every one of you as you have helped bless many through the purchase of the truck for the HATS-Haiti mission.
