We are pleased to welcome into the fellowship of the Church of Jesus Christ
by baptism; Avah Helaina Fitzgerald, daughter of Thomas & Tara
Fitzgerald.
A donation has been made to the Restoration Fund in loving memory of
Freda Hulan (Marina Martin’s mother) by the UCW.
The UCW Carnival Chili will take place Monday, February 18 from
noon-2 P.M. and from 5– 7P.M. Chili, apple crisp with ice cream, tea
& coffee. All are welcome. Tickets are $5 and are available at the office or at
the door.
First United Church Men’s Club will be having a Carnival Breakfast on
Saturday, February 23. Breakfast consists of scrambled eggs, sausages,
toast, juice, tea/coffee. Time 8 A.M to 10 A.M. Price $5.
PLEASE NOTE!!!! The annual congregational meeting has been set for
Sunday, March 2nd. This will start with a potluck luncheon in the gym
following the 11 A.M. worship. Please put this date aside and plan to attend.
All reports from all committees should be in the church office no later
than Wednesday, February 20.
The Session will meet Sunday, February 24 after coffee hour.
World Day Of Prayer will be held at the Westside Pentecostal Church
on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 7:30P.M. The theme is “God’s
Wisdom Provides New Understanding”. All are welcome.
Kids in Action - There will be a meeting for the KIA this Tuesday,
February 19th, from 4:30 - 6:00 pm in the Parlour. This time will be
used to make crafts for an upcoming fundraiser. All are welcome!
Youth Choir - There will be a youth choir practice this Thursday,
February 21st, from 3:45 - 4:45 pm in the Parlour. We are
currently working on songs for our Palm Sunday service, so anyone interested in
partaking in this is strongly encouraged to attend!
Youth Group - The youth group will meet this Friday, February 22nd,
from 6:00 - 9:00 pm in the lecture hall. Feel free to bring a friend
along!
A huge thanks to the Men's Club and all those who donated items to the KIA's
gift basket for the Interfaith Home! It was greatly appreciated!
Bible Study groups are on going every Thursday at 10 A.M. &
7:30 P.M. New members are welcome.

Louis is back! Louis McDonald is planning another Gospel Music Night in
Rhythm & Blues style. This concert is set for Sunday, February 17 at
7:30 P.M. here at First United Church. This concert will also feature
Shirley Montague & Elaine Clarke as well as the First United Church Senior Choir
under the direction of Gary Graham. Tickets are $10 and available at the
church office. This plans to be a fantastic concert and tickets are limited so
get your tickets early and save disappointment.

Reading the Bible Again….For The First Time
A 10 week course based on the Book by Marcus Borg. Being led by John Hounsell-Drover
at St. Mary’s the Virgin Church. The course will run on Thursday nights from 7—9
P.M. Please see the poster in the back for more information.
Envelopes for 2008 are at the back of the sanctuary. Please pick up yours and
help by delivering your neighbours.
The Lenten folders along with the 2007 Official Receipts for
income tax purposes are at the back of the sanctuary. Also included in this
package is a Re-development Committee update as well a letter regarding
the Stewardship Program. Please pick up your copy.
We are pleased to welcome Rev. Sandra
Hounsell-Drover to our pulpit for the months of January, February & March.
Sandra will fill in for Rev. Wayne while he is recuperating from surgery. We
wish Sandra a pleasant experience here at First United. We also wish Rev.
Wayne a speedy recovery.
